Lactose intolerance: the one variant most people actually have
Most adults worldwide stop digesting milk sugar, so why can some drink it freely?
What the science says
A regulatory variant upstream of the LCT gene (in MCM6) keeps the lactase enzyme switched on into adulthood: "lactase persistence". It is the best-studied genetic input to lactose tolerance, but the gut you have on a given day also depends on dose, gut flora and adaptation.
What Aimosti would show you
Aimosti reads the common MCM6/LCT persistence variant from your whole-genome file and restates the GWAS Catalog association, whether you carry the persistence allele, with evidence and effect kept separate, never as dietary instructions.
What we won't claim
We predict the common genetic persistence variant, not your gut on a given day. We won't diagnose lactose intolerance, rule it out, or tell you what to eat: symptoms can have many causes this variant doesn't capture.
